Travel Advice

By Keri T Lambretta

Planning your next vacation or business trip can always be worrisome. In the process you may forget some things that you should keep in mind for a safe and worry free trip. The article below contains some one of a kind advice that you can easily incorporate into your next journey for full success.

Luggage comes in a variety of forms and materials. When deciding upon new luggage, keep in mind your car's trunk space to determine what to purchase. You must be able to fit the luggage in the trunk of your car and think of other things that may need space besides your luggage when you travel. Soft-sided luggage, such as duffel bags, are easier to pack in the car. Hard-sided cases are a good choice when traveling by air because this type of luggage will help protect your belongings in flight.

Have your airline contact you in the event of any changes to your flight schedules. Most airlines have free programs where you can receive calls or text messages if your flight changes, which will come in handy if you are running late or experiencing difficulties with travel arrangements. Just call and ask them to set it up!

While traveling to a foreign country is an exciting experience, it can also be risky if you aren't familiar with its laws and customs. For that purpose, the State Department of the United States created a website (travel.state.gov) that you can visit to find out a wealth of information on the country to which you are traveling, including facts on crime, health conditions and popular attractions.

To capture all of the great memories of your travels on camera, be sure to carry a few extra charged batteries. If you are traveling overseas, you cannot always be sure your charger will work, or that the adapter will fit the plugs. Batteries are small and light weight, so save yourself the hassle of finding disposable cameras by taking an extra battery or two.

If emergency oxygen deploys while you are on a plane with your child, place your mask on first. Parents will instinctively want to help their child first, but if your brain is starved of oxygen you could be rendered useless and put both you and your child in danger.

Do not take any drinks that are offered to you unless it is served by a restaurant or hotel. They could be laced with drugs or other harmful substances. This is because many locals like to drug tourists or lace their drinks in order to steal from them or take advantage of them.

When you are traveling, it is important for you to bring along your own healthy food and snacks. Eating at fast food restaurants might be tasty, but you will not get any great nutritional value from them. You should pack your own foods that include fresh fruits, veggies, and cheese.

When you plan a vacation trip, be flexible about your destination. While it can be fun to establish a routine by revisiting a favorite vacation spot, maintaining some variety in destinations makes your vacations more memorable and relaxing. Additionally, selecting a different destination can be key to saving a little money when the vacation budget is tight.

If you are looking for a new way to travel and stay then why not consider 'glamping' for your next vacation or holiday. Suited to families or couple it is an enjoyable way to get out and about.
